Welcome to your Peace of Mind…

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you!”

— Anne Lamott

Mindfulness is…

Mindfulness is simply paying attention to each moment in a curious, open-minded way, noticing how your body and mind respond to the moment, and pausing long enough to choose your desired outcome instead of reacting. Mindfulness and its techniques are nothing new, although it has gone by many names through the decades (including “sports psychology,” “anger management,” “stress management”). With growing recognition of the importance of mental health, mindfulness now stands proudly on its own, based in solid science and history, to help everyone live a life of more wonder and awe!

Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom.” Viktor E. Frankl

Programs

“Every person needs to take one day away. A day in which one consciously separates the past from the future. Jobs, family, employers, and friends can exist one day without any one of us, and if our ego permit us to confess, they could exist eternally in our absence. Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from cares which will not withdraw from us.” Maya Angelou

From parents of children who have participated in Peace of Mind

“(My child) has created a mindfulness folder for me, and has been sharing what she has learned in her practice. This is wonderful, as all of the techniques are incredibly helpful to me too! At night, I sometimes find her practicing before bed…I am impressed with the breadth of the materials and the incredible tools she’s coming away with!”

“(My child) is private with her practice and does not want to share it with me. I have seen her use her techniques at bedtime and in moments when she feels overwhelmed to feel better. She is more willing to talk about her “worry brain” and moments when her brain may be trying to trick her (versus trusting her body).”

“ (My child) got her ears pierced recently and I cannot begin to tell you how incredible she was. She handled it beautifully. She kept herself still and calm and did her shakes (a mindful movement technique) between her piercings. She handled it better than plenty of adults. It was lovely to see how she’s internalized these techniques and puts them into practice when it’s important to her. Thank you!!”
